Making Friends in Airports and Airplanes

It’s as easy as saying hello and asking a question to open a conversation. “Are you waiting for this flight too? I hope its not delayed too much longer.” “Me too, I have a connecting flight to Japan.” “Wait, me too! Is it the 58 minute one to Narita?!” “Yes!” there you go, new friend.
Now, once on the plane, new friend and I were not seated near each other, BUT, I sat to a friendly woman who was very open to conversation. It turned out that she had gone to school in Japan for several years, making her fluent in both the language and the school system, which was a great conversation topic given my purpose for traveling to Japan; to help reinvent the school system! I think we held a conversation for a full two hours and the time flew by like nothing!
